Parker Stevenson is an American actor. He is known for starring on the shows The Hardy Boys, in the 1970s, and Baywatch, in the films A Separate Peace, Our Time, Lifeguard (1976), Stroker Ace, and Stitches, and in the made-for-tv movies This House Possessed and Not of This Earth (1995).
He is the son of Sarah Meade (Price), an actress, and Richard Stevenson Parker, an investment advisor, and is from an upper-class “WASP” family, with many notable ancestors and relatives. His maternal great-great-great-grandfather, U.S. Army officer and Union general Joseph Pannell Taylor, was the brother of U.S. President Zachary Taylor, who was President from March 4, 1849 to July 9, 1850, making President Taylor, Parker’s great-great-great-great-uncle. Parker is also a second cousin, five times removed, of U.S. President James Madison, who was President from 1809 to 1817, and who was President Taylor’s second cousin.
Parker’s maternal great-great-great-grandfather was U.S. Army Major General George Gordon Meade, nicknamed “Old Snapping Turtle,” who commanded the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War from 1863 to 1865, fighting in most of the war’s key battles. Parker’s maternal great-great-great-great-grandfather, John McLean, was a jurist and politician, who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, from March 4, 1813 to October 8, 1816, U.S. Postmaster General, from June 26, 1823 to March 4, 1829, and an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, from March 12, 1829 to April 4, 1861.
Parker was partly raised in Rye, New York. He is married to celebrity chef Lisa Schoen. Parker has two children, who are adopted, with his former wife, actress Kirstie Alley.
Parker’s paternal grandfather was Henry Seabury Parker (the son of The Rev. Henry Ainsworth Parker and Mary Seabury). Parker’s grandfather Henry was born in North Conway, Carroll, New Hampshire. Parker’s great-grandfather The Rev. Henry was an Episcopalian minister. He was the son of William Ainsworth Parker, whose paternal grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War, and of Mary Iddings. Parker’s great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of The Rev. Samuel Seabury and Hannah Amelia Jones. Samuel’s grandfather, Samuel Seabury, was the first American Episcopal bishop, the second Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the U.S., and the first Bishop of Connecticut, as well as rector of the Church of the Annunciation in New York City, editor of The Churchman, and professor of biblical learning in the General Theological Seminar. He was a leading Loyalist during the Revolutionary War. Hannah’s grandfather, Parker’s great-great-great-great-grandfather Samuel Jones, was Comptroller of New York, and played an important role in convincing New York to ratify the U.S. Constitution. Parker’s great-grandmother Mary was also descended from the well-known Saltonstall family of Massachusetts.
Parker’s paternal grandmother was Marion Stevenson (the daughter of Richard Wilson Stevenson and Mattie C. Hutchison). Marion was born in New Rochelle, Westchester, New York. Richard was the son of Richard Wilson Stevenson/Stephenson and Eleanor/Ellen Leah Duryee. Mattie was the daughter of Joseph/James Chrisman Hutchison and Susan/Josephine H. Benedict, whose maternal grandfather, Major General Solomon Cowles, Jr., fought in the Revolutionary War.
Parker’s maternal grandfather was Philip Price (the son of Eli Kirk Price and Evelyn Taylor). Philip was born in Pennsylvania. Eli was the son of John Sergeant Price and Sallie A. Baker. Evelyn was the daughter of Joseph Hancock Taylor and Mary Montgomery Meigs. Parker’s great-great-grandfather Joseph was the son of Joseph Pannell Taylor; his paternal grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War, and his maternal grandfather was Justice John McLean. Parker’s great-great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of career U.S. Army officer, and military and civil engineer, Montgomery Cunningham Meigs, who was Quartermaster General of the U.S. Army during the Civil War era. Mary’s paternal grandfather was born on St. George, Bermuda. Mary’s great-grandfather was academic, journalist, and government official Josiah Meigs.
Parker’s maternal grandmother was Sarah Meade Harrison (the daughter of Joseph Harrison and Margaretta Sergeant Large). Sarah was born in Pennsylvania. Joseph was the son of Theodore Leland Harrison, who was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, to an American father and an English mother, from Hampshire; and of Sarah Stovell. Through this line, Parker’s first cousin, three times removed, was diplomat Leland B. Harrison, who was U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, and Minister to Sweden, Uruguay, Romania, and Switzerland. Parker’s great-grandmother Margaretta was the daughter of John Baldwin Large and Sarah Wise Meade. Sarah Meade was the daughter of Major General George Gordon Meade; George’s father was merchant and art collector Richard Worsam Meade I.
