In April 2023, Schiappa landed herself in hot water after posing seductively on the cover of the French edition of Playboy Magazine while wearing a plunging neckline. This was viewed as especially distasteful since the country was experiencing civil unrest following the government’s mandate to increase the retirement age to 64 years.
On March 7, 2018, she performed Eve Ensler’s path-breaking play The Va*ina Monologues alongside Roselyne Bachelot and others at Paris’ Bobino Theater to mark the occasion of International Women’s Day.

After becoming a mother for the first time in 2008, she started her own blog titled ‘Maman travaille’ (or Mum works) to help other women in similar situations attain the elusive work-life balance.
In 2018, she helped pass the ‘Schiappa Law’ which made any form of verbal se**ual harassment, including whistling, cat-calling, making obscene gestures, and hurling verbal insults, etc. against women punishable with a hefty fine.
In addition to writing numerous books about feminism, she is also the author of several erotica books written under the pen name Marie Minelli.
