Jessica Alba is opening up about body image and people are listening. Jessica penned a powerful essay for the 20th anniversary for InStyle magazine where she talked about landing her first InStyle cover back in 2007 and how insecure she was about her body back then. Jessica Alba is now 38-years-old and the mother of three children: Honor, Haven, and Hayes and it is clear that she puts her family first. In the essay, she spoke about how her kids “exploded” her body and how she is completely cool with how her body is now. Her self-confidence is greater now after motherhood and Jessica has a powerful message for all women.

Speaking about the insecurities she experienced when she first appeared on the cover, Jessica spoke about how important it was for her to define herself rather than letting other people define who she was.for women to define themselves. Jessica stated the following.

“Looking back, when I shot my first InStyle cover, I was insecure. I felt like I needed to be someone I wasn’t in order to be accepted. I allowed other people’s ideas of who they thought I should be to define me. Who am I now? I give zero f*cks. I have three children. They’ve exploded my body, and I’m cool with it. And I know I’m smart. I don’t care what everybody else thinks. I’m good, girl. I’m good.”

Jessica also expressed that it was a journey getting to the place where she is not and it didn’t happen all at once. Touching on what it’s like to be a celebrity and under constant scrutiny, Jessica said she had to learn how to take control over her own image so that she wouldn’t be presented to the public through a male stereotype that portrayed her as a sex object in the media.

Jessica is now at a place where she balances business and her family with her own self-confidence, and that includes embracing her own sexiness on her own terms. Jessica said if she wants to wear a short skirt or a loud print, she will and she’ll feel confident doing so.
