What this means for Army
The timing of this coming around Army’s potential move to the AAC is likely not a coincidence. The AAC and Army have been in deep discussions since SMU announced earlier this month it would leave for the ACC next year. But there are some hurdles with the AAC and Army that will take a few weeks to hammer out, according to league sources.

Army has a lot of games on future schedules it would need to get out off as soon as next year. CBS Sports also holds the TV rights to Army home games through 2028, a deal that was extended last year, while ESPN has the exclusive rights to AAC games. The Army-Navy game is expected to remain in its slot, the week after conference championship games, and it is expected to remain a nonconference game even with Army and Navy in the same league, per a league source.
